Costs of healthcare in Russia

Russia spent 5.65% of its annual GDP on healthcare in 2024. However, this is below the current global average of around 10%. It is also lower than all EU countries except Romania.

Normally employers offer OMI via contributions. When you are starting to work in Russia your employer should pay about 3% of your wage into a social tax and a part of this comes into a national Russian healthcare fund. If your employer pays for this medical insurance you will get free medical assistance from public healthcare hospitals in Russia. If you do not work like you are unemployed, pensioner, kids, people who ill to work you will still access free basic healthcare.
