Golden Ring
The Golden Ring (the historic cities to the north-east of Moscow) is made up of different cities that vary in size and importance. Most of them are situated on riverbanks. Tourists can combine insights into the history of ancient Russia with a fascinating river cruise. The heart of the Golden Ring is the Vladimir and Suzdalsky Reserve, which combines several towns and villages at the same time. The Golden Ring’s towns include numerous masterpieces of Old Russian architecture, both white-bricked and wooden. A tremendous number of monasteries, Christian sites and cathedrals draw in large numbers of pilgrims. Each Golden Ring town retains a wonderful antique atmosphere with its narrow streets and wooden houses.
